Customer texts
Two text systems: a post-purchase Google-review ask, and transactional order-status updates. Both run over your chosen SMS channel and honor the same opt-out.
Review-request texts
After a customer's order is fulfilled, Skucast can text them a friendly Google-review request with a short link. It's built to ask everyone (with a reply-to-talk off-ramp) rather than gate reviews — which is what Google's policy actually allows.
Turn it on under Settings → Review & Order Texts, set your Google Place ID, and pick your send channel.
Timing per channel
You control how many days after fulfillment the text goes out, per sales channel — because the right moment differs:
| Channel | Typical delay | Why |
|---|---|---|
| POS (in-store) | 0 days | They already have the part in hand. |
| Web (online store) | ~9 days | Wait until it's shipped and used. |
| Other | ~14 days | A safe catch-all. |
The repeat-customer cooldown
Some customers buy parts every week. You don't want to text them for a review every single time. The cooldown (Settings → Review & Order Texts → "Don't re-ask within ___ days", default 60) means once you've asked a phone number, Skucast won't ask it again until that many days pass.
0 to ask after every order, or longer if you only want a review ask occasionally.Order-status texts
Transactional updates to the customer — order confirmation, order edited, shipped (with tracking), and delivered. They fire automatically from Shopify webhooks, in real time, for online-store orders (POS/eBay excluded). Enable them and edit the templates under Settings → Customer Order SMS.
Your SMS channel & 10DLC
Both text systems send over the channel you pick at the top of the review section:
- Your own number (recommended) — texts go out from your business phone line. Conversational, and no 10DLC registration needed.
- Twilio — a dedicated A2P number. In the US this requires a registered 10DLC brand + campaign (approval takes ~2–4 weeks) before production sends.
STOP / opt-out & compliance
Skucast handles the legal basics for you: every text includes a "Reply STOP to opt out" line, and anyone who replies STOP is opted out automatically and won't be texted again. Sends run during daytime hours (inside the quiet-hours window everywhere in the US), and opt-outs are honored across both review and order texts.
